This morning I had an appointment with my GP. My heart has gone back to regular rythmns, thank you! Then an appointment with my "Spiritual Director" this afternoon. The prognosis is never good with him, because he tells me dreadful truths about myself and my relationship with God! However, not unlike my GP, I always feel the better after the visit, or after the "medication" has started.
Why do we neglect our souls so much, yet seem ready to run to our GP or the A&E Dept when our bodies are in the slightest chaos? We need a spiritual doctor, a soul-friend, a fellow-traveller, whatever, to help us on our journey, and check our "health" from time to time! Why are we slow to seek one out, or slow to ask for help, yet are glad to go for an annual physical health check at the Well Man or the Well Woman's Clinic??
Sometimes I think it's because we are frightened of what may be revealed! By the way, how is your prayer life today?
The only thing I need sorted now, today, is my mind! If I've got the other two right, then the mind should follow!
Glad you're fit and healthy Kenny, in body and in spirit.
And I think you're right - spiritual health is often neglected - maybe I need to seek a new soulfriend myself...
