The world of blogging is a strange one. You become part of a Blogging Community, a community that hasa strong bond, and where people care for each other. We Christians who blog, especially the Anglicans, will often write opinions that not everyone will agree with. In fact there have been a couple of mild controversies in this pretty pathetic offering from time to time.

As bloggers we have a "virtual congregation", folk who read our blogs and often respond, either publicly or otherwise. It is often a big responsibility, but we proffer opinions, and sometimes insights that can help or hinder, cause laughter or offend. There is always the danger of overstepping the mark, or writing something we later regret, and then remove.

It is so sad therefore to see massive controversy going on at present between Mad Priest and Fr David Heron, both Anglican priests, who live quite close to each other, actually.

It is even sadder to read the vitreol that has seeped into the debate by people who should know better. Some of the responses in the debate are shocking, not between the clergy in question who are having a heated debate, but by those chipping in with their own agendas.

One hopes that Mad Priest keeps his job and his blog after the dust settles. I have followed him avidly for two years, and he is a good and sincere priest, although a little crazy at times.

Remind you of anyone you know?

Our prayers should be with both these men just now. It is a sad day for the blogging community.
