"I live in hope of some bio-medical engineering company devising a form of laser surgery which entails the supreme domestic commander undergoing a brief procedure, under local anaesthetic, to have the area of the brain which deals with shopping, nagging and anti-men pastimes, zapped. It would be worth every penny even it it was ridiculously expensive.

Outcome: "I'm off out to do some carpet/Xmas/general supermarket shopping honey, so I've left a dozen cans in the fridge in case you want to stay in and watch the fitba' on the telly. If you don't fancy that I've left a few quid by the phone in case you fancy going out with your pals and getting pished. Just give me a ring when you want picked up from the boozers, and don't worry what time it is. Oh, and just text me when you've decided what you want for your tea darling."
