My attention is drawn to an Article in the English edition of today's Daily Mail: In Jan Moir's Daily Mail column today:- " It's no surprise to me that there are so few BNP members in Scotland . Everyone up there is far too busy cheerfully hating the English to embark on any proper racial hatred. It's so pathetic.

Scottish football fans were quick to lionise Maradona this week, congratulating him on the 'Hand of God' goal that beat the English all those years ago. This is the kind of behaviour that Fred Flintstone look-alike, Alex Salmond always approves of, but really, it's embarrassing. It makes Scots sound like a bunch of bores shouting from the bottom of a large hole. No one is listening . No one cares."

Anyone who reads the Daily mail is normally a little Englandshire Tory. The writers Thatcherite dregs. And they know hee-haw about football. Ignore her - otherwise she'll think her views might actually matter to the rest of the world!

Not sure where the quote ends.

I've a feeling that the BNP would quite happily convert itself into the E(nglish)NP if the union was to break up.

Personally, I've had 10 holidays in Scotland in the last 13 years and never found anyone being anti-English. I've a feeling that england and Scotland sticking together will help to frustrate the BNP rather than otherwise.

Alex salmond like Fred Flintstone - well I can think of worse comparisons. I wouldn't call him a knave but I confound him all the same.

  The quote ends "No one cares". The truth is that there are bigots and racists everywhere. We're still however, in the west of Scotland, still obsessed with the Catholic/Protestant, Celtic/Rangers stuff, so a bit busy to worry about other cultures or races! The other thing is that there is very little immigration in Scotland, apart from folk from England!
  
  That can provoke tension in remote communities, where a Londoner can sell his 2 bed flat and afford a mansion in The Hebrides! Especially when the locals have homelessness and the inability to buy said property!
  
  On the football scene, too, there is an anti-English feeling, but no more than the anti Man Utd chants I hear on TV continually. When England play Scotland the anti Scottish chants are just as prevelent!
  
  The truth is that very few folk hate the English. Most English people fit quite nicely into Scottish society and prefer it up here, despite the weather!
  
  We have our own parliament now, which decides how the cake is shared. This will mean that we want to give free care to the elderly. We want to have free prescriptions, although we only have cut price ones for now, and as a nation these are our choices, our priorities.
  
  I'm glad you had a positive experience holidaying here. The vast majority of people do, despite the rain and the cold!
