Well, the lion has lain down with the lamb, and all is peaceful at The Rectory. The dogs have got on with each other from day one, although Toastie and Peanut have still to master the idea that they really need to eat their food in a oner if it's not to be polished off by Archie. We had a grand walk in a freezing park yesterday, and another due this morning, but meantime some serious white stuff has fallen from the sky. Last night at the bedtime walk, the Big Boy had a wonderful time lolloping about in the virgin snow.

The problem was always going to be the cat, aka The Silent Assassin (SA). She had decided to live upstairs, but yesterday afternoon I made sure they all lived downstairs, together. The SA hid under a couch in the far room, but by bedtime decided to take a chance in the living room. After all, Archie had not shown himself to be threatening or anti-social! The SA wiggled her way underneath the footstool, and Archie ambled over to inspect the little grey matter. I don't know what happened exactly, but it was either a hiss or a scratch, and Archie jumped back and decided to go back to sleep in his corner!

Now we are all being terribly open and accepting of each other. Downstairs last night, all four slept peaceably together with the SA and Peanut asleep in each others arms. This is their usual posture. I guess the Kingdom will really come when the SA sleeps in Archie's arms, although I wouldn't hold my breath!
